LA Missions Outreach 2011, Update #3

Hello everyone! Many apologies for not posting an update yesterday. I'll recap on both days briefly.

Yesterday and today have been full of awesome work, and the students are all amazing. We've worked a the Union Rescue Mission on skid row, done yard work for many of the LA missionaries, painted rooms, installed hardwood floors, poured concrete, ran carnivals and VBS, and many many other things. God has been doing fantastic work here in the city, and it is a great privilege to be serving Him here.

Tonight we all went and served dinner at Open Arms church, a church located in South Central LA. The students had the opportunity to sit with many homeless men and women going through the House of Hope program, a program designed to help those with addictions who are seeking freedom. It was a terrific night of interaction, listening to stories, and sharing the hope of Christ with them. I've included a picture from the night of some of our students with a few of these individuals. They were absolutely fantastic!

The team is doing really well. Corrine, our youth administrator, is not feeling well, so please take some time to pray for her, as well as a few of the other members of our team who are a bit under the weather. At this point during the trip, it is very common to experience sickness and weariness, so we ask for prayer for energy, health, and effectiveness.

Tomorrow is lined up to be another long day of work and ministry, and by the looks of the meeting tonight, everyone is excited for what's lined up. I'll do my best to post another update tomorrow night, which will be New Year's Eve. Huzzah!
